Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - The Boston Red Sox selected pitcher Justin
Germano from Triple-A Pawtucket on Wednesday and optioned fellow righty
Clayton Mortensen to the minor league club.
Germano, 29, is 8-20 with a 5.02 ERA in parts of six previous seasons with the
Padres, Reds and Indians.
He was signed as a minor league free agent in January and went 9-4 with a 2.40
ERA in 17 games for Pawtucket this season, including 16 starts.
Mortensen, 27, had a 1.35 ERA in eight games out of the bullpen for the Red
Sox over two stints this season.
