Mercer Men have quick turnaround after overtime thriller

Saturday was one of Mercer's four overtime victories this season.

They took down USC-Upstate 62-60 in extra minutes The Bears are undefeated in overtime contests, but senior Daniel Coursey says he'd much rather lock games down in regulation.

"I don't know what it is. We're 4-0 in overtime so our conditioning's pretty good I guess," said Coursey. We can finish games at least. I think we need to work on starting games. I personally started off kind of slow yesterday, really didn't score in the first half."

Whatever Coursey lacked in the first half, he made up for it later. A double double, with 16 points and 10 boards was just what the Bears needed. The big man also hit the game-winning shot and secured the win with a last-second block.

Coach Bob Hoffman on how the Bears will stay fresh on just one day of rest:

"Well it won't be easy. The great thing is we have a deep bench and play a lot of guys. That's something we're going to have to do early on for sure to keep ourselves in that game against a great East Tennessee State team."

The Bears will need all the help they can get with the quick turnaround. Tip off against the pirates is scheduled for 7 pm at Hawkins Arena on Monday night.
