Crabbe, the California Bears dismissed the Pepperdine Waves, 79-62, at Haas
Pavilion.
Crabbe shot 10-of-18 from the field, including 4-of-7 from three-point range,
and he was a perfect 9-of-9 from the free throw stripe for Cal (2-0). Justin
Cobbs also had a big night with 25 points, five rebounds, and five assists.
For Pepperdine (0-2), Stacy Davis led the way with 13 points but he also
committed seven turnovers. Lorne Jackson chipped in with 10 points.
Cal got out to a 36-26 lead after one half by connecting on 44.1 percent of
its field goals while holding Pepperdine to less than 39 percent shooting.
The Waves brought their deficit to just five points early in the second half,
but the Bears went on a 14-7 run to lead by 12, 54-42, with less than 13
minutes to play. Cal would hold a double-digit lead for the remainder of the
contest.
Pepperdine committed 17 turnovers and did not go to the line often, as it hit
just 4-of-7 free throws.
