Corvallis, OR (Sports Network) - Joe Burton registered a double-double with 21
points and 10 rebounds as the Oregon State Beavers topped the Montana State
Bobcats, 78-65, in non-conference action at Gill Coliseum.
Also scoring in double figures for the Beavers (4-1) were Ahmad Starks with 14
points, on just 5-of-16 shooting from the floor, and Eric Moreland who
recorded a double-double of his own with 11 points and 10 boards, to go along
with three blocked shots.
The Bobcats (1-3) were paced by Antonio Biglow who accounted for 14 points,
Flavien Davis with 12 and nine boards, followed by Xavier Blount with 10
points on a mere 2-of-10 shooting from the floor.
Montana State opened the contest on a 6-0 run, but the visitors enjoyed the
lead up until there was about eight minutes remaining in the first half as OSU
put together a 10-0 run which eventually led to a 45-31 edge at the break. The
Beavers were dominant in the paint through the first 20 minutes, scoring 28
points in the key, compared to just 12 for the Bobcats.
In the second half Oregon State's advantage remained double digits for the
most part, at one point reaching as high as 18 at the 4:27 mark, on the way to
a 13-point victory.
MSU finished the outing shooting just 30.0 percent from the floor, including
6-of-21 behind the three-point line. The Beavers managed to overcome 15
turnovers and just 5-of-23 shooting on the perimeter.
