Stockton, CA (Sports Network) - Lorenzo McCloud scored five of his team-high
24 points in overtime as the Pacific Tigers took down the Nevada Wolf Pack in
a non-conference matchup that needed extra time to reach a decision at the
Spanos Center.
Colin Beatty and Ross Rivera each added 14 points for Pacific (4-4) which had
lost two-straight.
Deonte Burton poured in 25 points to pace Nevada (4-4). Jordan Burris added 14
points and nine rebounds, Jerry Evans Jr. contributed 13 points off the bench
and Malik Story tacked on 12 points.
In a tightly contested first half Pacific earned a 33-31 lead at the break by
shooting 48.1 percent. That was just better than Nevada which hit 46.5 percent
of its shots from the field.
Both teams traded leads throughout the second half with Nevada holding a slim
66-64 edge with just over a minute to play. Rivera then hit a jump shot with
1:06 remaining to tie the score, 66-66, and with neither team able to score in
the final minute the contest went to overtime.
A 3-pointer from Beatty on the first possession of the extra frame gave
Pacific a lead it would never relinquish as the team hit 5-of-6 free throws
down the stretch.
