Dakota Coyotes held on for a 74-71 victory over the South Dakota State
Jackrabbits in a Summit League matchup at the DakotaDome.
Brandon Bos scored 16 points and hit a pair of clutch free throws as well for
South Dakota (7-10, 3-2 Summit) which had lost three of its previous four.
Casey Kasperbauer added 14 points, Trevor Gruis had 12 and Karim Rowson
brought down 12 rebounds off the bench.
Nate Wolters paced South Dakota State (11-6, 2-2) with a game-high 26 points.
Chad White added 16 points and Brayden Carlson had 11 for the Jackrabbits who
had won two of their previous three.
The Coyotes dominated the first half and led 42-25 at intermission after
hitting on 55.2 percent of their field goal attempts including 5-of-11 from
beyond the arc. The Jackrabbits lagged behind as they netted just 25.0
percent of their first half field goals.
After trailing by as many as 20 points in the second half South Dakota State
pulled to within a point on a Jordan Dykstra's 3-pointer with four seconds
remaining. Bos then sank a pair of free throws and the Jackrabbits were
unable to get a shot off in the final seconds.
Both teams relied heavily on shots from beyond the arc with South Dakota
State netting 10-of-29 attempts from distance and South Dakota making
8-of-18.
