Williamsburg, VA (Sports Network) - Sherrod Wright dropped in 28 points to
lead the George Mason Patriots to a 73-66 victory over the William & Mary
Tribe in a Colonial Athletic Association battle at Kaplan Arena.
Corey Edwards added 10 points and five assists for George Mason (8-6, 1-1
CAA) which had lost two straight entering play.
Tim Rusthoven had a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds, Marcus
Thornton added 19 points of his own and Brandon Britt had 18 points before
fouling out for William & Mary (7-6, 1-1) which has lost three straight.
The Tribe managed to earn a 37-33 lead at the half by shooting 52.0 percent
from the field while holding the Patriots to just 40.6 percent shooting.
The tables turned in the second half as George Mason heated up to 59.1
percent shooting and used a 13-6 edge from the free throw line to pull away
for the win. William & Mary shot 40.7 percent in the second frame.
George Mason used a 40-32 edge on points in the paint, including a 15-2
advantage in second chance points, to overcome the 26 points the Tribe
scored off of turnovers.
