Pocatello, ID (Sports Network) - Melvin Morgan went off for 27 points to lift
the Idaho State Bengals over the Northern Colorado Bears, 86-63, in a Big Sky
Conference matchup.
Morgan was 7-of-12 from the field and 5-of-8 from three-point range for Idaho
State (2-11, 1-3 Big Sky), which snapped its six-game losing streak. Chris
Hansen contributed 19 points while Tomas Sanchez dished out eight assists.
Sanchez and Sherrod Baldwin netted 11 points each.
Derrick Barden was 9-of-11 from the floor for 19 points and also came up with
eight rebounds for the Bears (3-9, 1-3), who lost their third consecutive
game. Tate Unruh was the only other Northern Colorado player to score in
double-figures with 14 points.
The Bengals carried a 37-25 lead into halftime after producing a 15-0 run from
the 8:18 mark until there was just 3:45 left before the break.
In the second half, Idaho State went 9-of-14 from beyond the arc and outscored
the Bears, 49-38, to close out the convincing victory.
Northern Colorado was just 9-of-20 from the free-throw line throughout the
game while the Bengals were 23-of-27 at the charity stripe.
