Little Rock, AR (Sports Network) - Michael Javes and Will Neighbour both
scored 15 points as the Trojans of Arkansas-Little Rock defeated the FIU
Panthers, 88-76, in Sun Belt Conference action at the Jack Stephens Center.
Also scoring in double figures for the Trojans (11-8, 5-3 SBC) were James
White with 14 points off the bench, followed by Ben Dillard and Josh Hagins
with 11 and 10 points, respectively, as they won for the third time in the
last four outings. Hagins, who missed all three of his 3-point tries, made up
for it with a game-high seven assists.
The Panthers (8-8, 3-4) had a total of six score in double digits, beginning
with Malik Smith who dropped in 14 points, followed by Cameron Bell with 13 in
a reserve role as the team had a four-game win streak snapped. Jerome Frink
and Tymell Murphy responded with 12 points each and Deric Hill and Marco
Porcher Jimenez 11 points apiece.
UALR shot a blistering 66.7 percent from the floor in the first half and also
connected on all but two of 22 chances at the free-throw line, en route to a
51-36 advantage at the break.
In the second half the Trojans again shot the ball well, this time at a 53.6
percent clip, as they secured the double-digit home win.
FIU was guilty of 22 turnovers, which the Trojans traded in for 25 points.
