Lexington, KY (Sports Network) - Elston Turner recorded a career-high 40
points as the Texas A&M Aggies defeated the Kentucky Wildcats, 83-71, in SEC
action at Rupp Arena.
Turner was 14-of-19 from the floor, including 6-of-10 behind the 3-point line,
in the Texas A&M (12-3, 2-0 SEC) victory. Kourtney Roberson was one rebound
shy of a double-double scoring 10 points. Fabyon Harris tallied 14 points as
the Aggies won their fifth straight game.
For the Wildcats (10-5, 1-1), Nerlens Noel recorded a double-double with 15
points and 11 boards, adding seven blocked shots, six assists and four steals
to his stat line. Archie Goodwin and Ryan Harrow scored 17 and 14 points,
respectively, and Alex Poythress recorded 12 points as Kentucky had a two-game
winning streak snapped.
Kentucky was 11-of-25 from the floor while Texas A&M was 14-of-30 in the first
half, leading to a 36-31 Aggie advantage at the break.
Texas A&M shot 58.6 percent from the floor, including 5-of-7 from long range,
in the second half in order to secure the 12-point victory.
The Aggies Shot 52.5 percent from the floor, including 9-of-19 from long
range, while limiting the Wildcats to a mere 6-of-18 from 3-point range on the
day.
