Charleston, SC (Sports Network) - Clide Geffrard scored 22 points as the
Samford Bulldogs held on for a 69-65 victory over The Citadel Bulldogs in a
Southern Conference battle at McAlister Field House.
Tim Williams and Raijon Kelley each added 15 points for Samford (5-12,
3-1 SoCon) which has won back-to-back games.
Matt Van Scyoc led The Citadel (3-11, 0-4) with 19 points, Marshall Harris
added 12 points and seven assists, P.J. Horgan chipped in 11 points and Mike
Groselle hauled in 11 rebounds. The host Bulldogs have lost 10 straight.
Samford led 35-31 at the break after connecting on 48.1 percent of its field
goal attempts including 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. The Citadel fell behind
despite hitting 5-of-13 shots from beyond the arc by shooting 45.8 percent
overall.
The visiting Bulldogs shot an even 50.0 percent in the second half and used
a 12-6 advantage from the free-throw line to hold off the hosts.
The Citadel kept itself alive by hitting 11-of-25 shots from beyond the arc.
