San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - Kenyon McNeail poured in 34 points off the
bench to lead the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs to a 73-71 triumph over the Texas-
San Antonio Roadrunners in a Western Athletic Conference bout at the
Convocation Center.
McNeail hit 9-of-15 shots from 3-point range and scored 20 of his game-high
point total in the second half including the game-winning 3-pointer with 19
seconds remaining. Louisiana Tech (14-3, 5-0 WAC) also got 10 points from
Chris Anderson. The Bulldogs have won six of their last seven.
Kannon Burrage scored 29 points, Jordan Sims added 16 and Hyjii Thomas
chipped in 14 for UTSA (4-12, 0-6) which has lost six straight.
The Roadrunners managed to earn a 36-35 lead at halftime by shooting 46.2
percent form the field while holding Louisiana Tech to 39.4 percent.
Jordan Sims' 3-pointer with a little more than a minute remaining had UTSA
ahead 71-68. McNeail hit a pair of free throws on the next possession and then
hit the game-winner off a Burrage turnover. The Roadrunners had a chance to
tie or win the game in the final seconds but Thomas' 3-point attempt at the
buzzer was off the mark.
UTSA lost despite doubling up Louisiana Tech on points from the free throw
line (20-10).
