Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - Allen Roberts sank the game-winning free throws
with six seconds remaining to lift the Miami-Ohio RedHawks to a 58-57 win over
the Buffalo Bulls in Mid-American Conference action at Alumni Arena.
Roberts finished with a game-high 22 points as the RedHawks (6-8, 1-1 MAC)
were able to snap a two-game losing skid. Will Felder chipped in 12 points for
the visitors.
Javon McCrea filled the stat sheet for Buffalo (5-11, 0-2) with 19 points, 11
boards, four blocks, and four steals. Cameron Downing added 14 points in 16
minutes off the bench.
Roberts and Felder each had 10 points at halftime while the remaining Miami
starters went scoreless in the first half. The RedHawks shot 50 percent from
the floor in the frame and led 31-25 at the break.
Buffalo came out flat after intermission and fell behind 54-33 midway through
the second half, but it mounted a furious comeback, scoring 19 points
consecutive points while holding Miami without a field goal in the final 10:20
of the game. The Bulls took their first lead of the second half on a pair of
McCrea free throws with 1:01 remaining, but the RedHawks salvaged the win on
Roberts' late trip to the line.
Buffalo had a miserable night from behind the arc, making just 2-of-19 3-point
attempts. It fell to 9-22 all-time against the RedHawks.
