Towson, MD (Sports Network) - Jerrelle Benimon registered a double-double with
13 points and 11 boards to lead the Towson Tigers to a 73-47 rout over the
James Madison Dukes in Colonial Athletic Association action at Towson
Center Arena.
Bilal Dixon and Jerome Hairston also scored 13 points a piece for Towson
(10-9, 5-1 CAA), which has now won six of its last seven contests. Mike
Burwell and Rafriel Guthrie added 10 points each.
Alioune Diouf led JMU (9-10, 3-3) with 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting.
James Madison shot just 24.1 percent in the opening period but managed to keep
the game close by forcing eight Towson turnovers. The Tigers outrebounded JMU,
19-13, and led at the half, 31-28.
The second half belonged to Towson as it made 15-of-28 shots from the field
while holding the Dukes without a 3-point basket on nine attempts.
Despite the loss, James Madison still leads the all-time series with Towson,
26-11.
