Chapel Hill, NC (Sports Network) - Reggie Bullock poured in 24 points in
leading the North Carolina Tar Heels to a 62-52 victory over the Maryland
Terrapins in Atlantic Coast Conference action at the Dean Smith Center.
Bullock hit 7-of-15 shots from the field including four triples to lead
North Carolina (12-5, 2-2 ACC). James Michael McAdoo added 19 points and
11 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season. The Tar Heels have
won back-to-back contests after dropping two straight.
Maryland (14-4, 2-3) failed to shoot better than 40 percent from the field in
the contest (.396) marking the fourth straight game in which the Terrapins
have been unable to do so. Dez Wells scored a team-high 21 points, Alex Len
had 10 points and Charles Mitchell collected 11 rebounds and was a point shy
of a double-double.
The Tar Heels dominated in the first half as they shot 48.4 percent from the
field including a 4-of-7 showing from beyond the arc. Meanwhile the Terrapins
managed to hit just 33.3 percent of their shots including misses on all seven
attempts from beyond the arc. North Carolina led 42-20 at the break.
The Terrapins improved to 46.2 percent shooting in the second period while
limiting North Carolina to just 23.5 percent but it wasn't enough to overcome
the halftime deficit.
In the game Maryland had 21 turnovers to just five assists while North
Carolina assisted on 14 field goals to just 12 turnovers.
