Davis, CA (Sports Network) - D.J. Seeley finished with 32 points, six assists,
and four steals to help the Cal State Fullerton Titans to a 95-88 victory over
the UC Davis Aggies in a Big West Conference matchup at The Pavilion.
Seeley went 11-of-16 from the field including 5-of-8 from beyond the arc for
the Titans (11-8, 4-3 Big West) as they snapped a two-game losing streak.
Kwame Vaughn was also very productive with 20 points, six assists, and three
steals. Sammy Yeager contributed 16 points and a team-best eight rebounds
while Alex Harris netted 10 points.
J.T. Adenrele and Corey Hawkins scored 22 points apiece for UC Davis (7-11,
3-4), which had won its last two contests. Hawkins also pulled down seven
boards, Ryan Sykpens added 18 points, and Josh Ritchart made an impact with 11
points on 3-of-5 shooting from the floor.
The Aggies took a 45-40 lead into the intermission after they knocked down 50
percent of their field goal attempts including 8-of-15 from 3-point range in
the first stanza. Fullerton kept it close by shooting 53.6 from the floor and
converting 6-of-12 from beyond the arc in the opening 20 minutes of play.
Although UC Davis improved slightly to hit 52 percent of its field goal tries
after the break, it hit only 2-of-7 from distance. The Titans made 55.9
percent of their field goal attempts including 6-of-11 from behind the 3-point
line and 11-of-12 at the charity stripe in the second half. Fullerton held
onto the lead for the final 7:45 of the contest.
The Titans enjoyed a 32-27 edge in the rebounding battle en route to the
decision.
