Austin, TX (Sports Network) - Sheldon McClellan led the way with 15 points as
the Texas Longhorns defeated the TCU Horned Frogs, 60-43, in a Big 12
Conference battle at the Erwin Center.
For the Longhorns (10-11, 2-6 Big 12), Ioannis Papapetrou just missed a
double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds, while Connor Lammert chipped
in with 10 points.
Adrick McKinney led the Horned Frogs (9-12, 0-8) with 13 points and Connell
Crossland pulled down 12 rebounds.
Texas shot very well to start the contest, connecting on 50 percent of its
field goal tries, including 1-of-4 from beyond the 3-point arc, as it took a
32-20 lead into the break. Texas held TCU to just 33.3 percent shooting from
the field. The Horned Frogs missed all five of their 3-point tries in the
half.
After the break, the Longhorns stayed hot from the field, knocking down 55
percent of their shots, including 2-of-5 from 3-point distance. The Horned
Frogs continued to struggle with their shooting, making only 32.1 percent of
their field goal tries. Texas scored the first nine points of the half to
push their lead to 19 points. TCU would get no closer than nine the rest of
the way, as the Longhorns cruised to victory and kept the Horned Frogs winless
in league play this season.
Texas had the edge on points in the paint, 30-22. TCU outrebounded Texas
33-30.
