Pocatello, ID (Sports Network) - Chris Hansen scored a game-high 27 points,
shooting a stellar 9-of-11 behind the 3-point line, as the Idaho State Bengals
grabbed an 87-51 win over the Montana State Bobcats in Big Sky Conference
action at Reed Gym.
Hansen, who didn't attempt a single shot from inside the arc, set the school
record of triples in a single game for the Bengals (5-19, 4-11 Big Sky) as
they snapped a seven-game slide in the process. Melvin Morgan and Andre
Hatchett checked in with 15 and 12 points, respectively.
The Bobcats (10-13, 7-8), losers of three in a row and four of the last five,
were paced by Flavien Davis as he scored 11 points, the only player in double
figures for the visitors.
Shooting a sizzling 65.2 percent from the floor in the first half, including
7-of-11 on the perimeter, the Bengals ran out to a commanding 42-18 advantage
at the break. MSU made a mere six field goals through the first 20 minutes of
action.
The Bobcats shot better in the second half at a 44.0 percent clip, but at the
same time the defense for the visitors watched ISU make good on 62.5 percent
from the floor as the Bengals left no doubt in the lopsided victory.
The hosts outscored Montana State beyond the arc by a 39-15 margin.
