Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Tyreek Duren knocked down 5-of-6 3-
pointers and finished with a game-high 29 points, as the La Salle Explorers
downed the Saint Joseph's Hawks, 76-64, in a matchup between Atlantic 10
Conference and Philadelphia Big 5 rivals at The Palestra.
Ramon Galloway scored 16 points and dished out 12 assists to help the
Explorers (18-6, 8-3 A-10) notch their fourth straight win and keep pace with
conference leader VCU. Jerrell Wright added 10 points and seven rebounds in
the victory.
Halil Kanacevic paced the Hawks (14-10, 5-6) with 16 points off the bench,
while Ronald Roberts recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Langston Galloway rounded out the double-digit scorers with 12 points to go
along with five steals in a losing effort.
The Explorers controlled the action in the first half, as they shot 52.2
percent from the floor and went 5-of-8 from beyond the arc to take a 29-24
halftime lead.
La Salle posted another 5-of-8 effort from the perimeter in the second stanza
and shot an even better 72.7 percent from the floor (16-of-22), as its lead
stretched to as many as 12 with nine minutes to play. The Hawks were unable to
draw any closer than seven points the rest of the way despite shooting 63
percent from the floor over the final 20 minutes.
La Salle had 22 assists on 28 field goals for the game. With the win, the
Explorers clinched at least a share of the Big 5 title.
