Greenville, SC (Sports Network) - Clide Geffrard, Jr. led all scorers with 19
points as the Samford Bulldogs defeated the Furman Paladins, 64-53, in a
Southern Conference tilt at Timmons Arena.
For the Bulldogs (10-17, 8-6 SoCon), Raijon Kelly added 17 points and Tim
Williams posted a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Connor was
held scoreless but handed out six assists for Samford, which has won back-to-
back games.
Colin Reddick led the Paladins (6-19, 3-11) with 14 points, Bryant Irwin
finished with 13 points and Kendrec Ferrara chipped in with 10 points.
Samford took a 31-26 lead at the break. It shot 46.4 percent from the field in
the first half, including 4-of-9 from beyond the 3-point arc. Furman was close
behind, shooting 43.5 percent from the field and 5-of-12 from 3-point range.
After intermission, the Paladins went ice-cold, making only 31.8 percent of
their field goal tries. The Bulldogs were consistent from the field,
connecting on 47.8 percent of their shots in the second half. After the teams
traded leads early in the second half, the Bulldogs used a 6-0 run midway
through the frame to take the lead for good.
Samford outscored Furman in the paint, 24-16. It also dominated the glass,
outrebounding the Paladins, 37-23.
