Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - Led by a game-high 26 points by Trevor
Gruis, the South Dakota Coyotes downed the IUPUI Jaguars, 87-69, in a Summit
League tilt at The Jungle.
For the Coyotes (10-18, 5-10 Summit), Juevol Myles added 18 points, seven
rebounds and five assists, Casey Kasperbauer finished with 13 points and
Jordan Boots chipped in with 11 as South Dakota completed the season sweep of
IUPUI.
Mitchell Patton led the Jaguars (6-23, 1-14) with 24 points, while Sean
Esposito and Donovan Gibbs each scored 12 points and Greg Rice tallied 10 and
pulled down seven rebounds.
South Dakota connected on 51.9 percent from the field and used a 15-1 scoring
advantage at the free-throw line to take a 47-38 lead into halftime. IUPUI
made 53.1 percent of its shots from the field before intermission.
After the break the Coyotes kept up the pressure, shooting 48.5 percent from
the field. The Jaguars could not keep up, making 43.5 percent of their field
goal tries, including 2-of-8 from 3-point range. South Dakota pushed the lead
to as many as 21 in the second half as it cruised to victory.
The Coyotes finished the game outscoring the Jaguars 20-4 at the free-throw
line. South Dakota held a 38-32 rebounding edge.
