Clarksville, TN (Sports Network) - Corey Wilford led six players in double
figures with 26 points on 8-of-12 shooting from long range, as the Southeast
Missouri State Redhawks routed the Austin Peay Governors, 108-81, in an Ohio
Valley Conference bout at the Dunn Center.
Tyler Stone and Nick Niemczyk went for 20 and 19 points off the bench,
respectively, while Nino Johnson registered 12 points and 14 rebounds for SEMO
(15-15, 7-8 OVC). Marland Smith had 14 points and six assists, Lucas Nutt went
scoreless but dished out nine assists and Jared White had 10 points off the
bench.
Travis Betran scored 26 points to lead Austin Peay (7-23, 3-12) while Chris
Horton notched 12 points. Will Triggs and Thomas Greer each went for 11
points.
The Redhawks had a first half for the ages, shooting a staggering 73.5 percent
from the floor and 13-of-17 behind the 3-point line. Austin Peay missed all
seven of its tries from beyond the arc and trailed 65-30 at the break.
Despite the lopsided score, SEMO continued to pour it on from behind the arc,
netting seven more triples in the second period en route to the comfortable
27-point victory.
SEMO made 20 3-pointers in the contest, breaking the school and Ohio Valley
Conference single-game record.
