Berkeley, CA (Sports Network) - Allen Crabbe posted a double-double with 15
points and 11 rebounds to lead the California Golden Bears over the Utah Utes,
64-46, in a Pac-12 Conference tilt at Haas Pavilion.
For the Golden Bears (19-9, 11-5 Pac-12), Justin Cobbs added 12 points and
seven assists and Tyrone Wallace chipped in 11 points, as California won for
the sixth-straight time.
The Utes (11-16, 3-12) were led by Jordan Loveridge with nine points and 11
rebounds.
Cal opened a 34-24 lead at the break by shooting 44.4 percent from the field
and holding Utah to just 32.1 percent. The Bears connected on 5-of-14 from
beyond the 3-point arc while the Utes shot 2-of-9 from the perimeter. After
falling behind, 22-14, with 6:33 left in the first half, Cal responded with a
20-2 run to close out the period.
After intermission, both teams struggled from the field. The Bears made only
35.7 percent of their field goal tries, including just 2-of-10 from 3-point
distance. The Utes shot a woeful 25.9 percent from the field in the second
half, missing all but one of their eight 3-point tries, as they fell for the
third straight game.
Cal outrebounded Utah, 40-34, and held them to their lowest scoring output of
the season.
