2 UGA players arrested after SEC Championship

Here's what quarterback Jake Fromm had to say after leading UGA to SEC title

Two Georgia Bulldogs were arrested late Saturday following the Bulldogs' win in the SEC Championship, according to Barrow County police.

Starting linebacker Natrez Patrick was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana less than one ounce, according to Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith. It is a misdemeanor. His bond was set for $1,030.

Patrick was a passenger during a traffic stop, according to Barrow County Sheriff's spokesperson Ryan Sears. He was in a vehicle with fellow teammate and receiver Jayson Stanley.

Stanley was arrested and charged for DUI, possession of marijuana less than one ounce and speeding, going 87 mph in a 65 mph zone.

Smith said Patrick paid a "small fine" and has since been released. The case is still under investigation. It is not known if Stanley has been released.

This is Patrick's third arrest. According to the school's student-athlete handbook, a player will be dismissed from the team following a third marijuana-related incident.

Patrick was arrested in October for alleged marijuana possession in Athens-Clarke County. He was suspended from Georgia for four games and returned to play against Auburn in the regular season.

He was arrested back in November 2015 with teammate Chauncey Rivers, who was eventually dismissed from the team, by Athens-Clarke County Police for marijuana possession on campus.

Patrick is a junior linebacker. He was part of Georgia's 28-7 victory over Auburn in the SEC Championship on Saturday. He had three tackles in the game.
