Clinton, SC (Sports Network) - Familiarity will aid Drew Watson as
Presbyterian College's new defensive coordinator.
After spending the last 10 seasons as an assistant coach at Coastal Carolina,
he knows the Big South Conference and Presbyterian head coach Harold Nichols
well.
"I'm thrilled to be at Presbyterian College and part of this coaching staff,"
Watson said. "I've always admired PC and the tradition here. I've known Coach
Nichols for more than 20 years and I have tremendous respect for him and his
approach to the game."
Watson coached safeties at Coastal Carolina, assisted with special teams and
was responsible for coaching outside linebackers in 2010. He also served as
recruiting coordinator from 2002-07.
"He has a great reputation among his peers in our profession and will help us
as we continue our journey into building a championship program," Nichols
said.
Watson also was an assistant coach at Wofford and Newberry College, his alma
mater. He was a three-year starter at cornerback before graduating from
Newberry in 1989.
Presbyterian finished with 4-7 overall and 3-3 Big South records last season.
