Tokyo, Japan (Sports Network) - The United States women's national team edged
Germany in a 1-0 win in Tokyo on Saturday to claim their third FIFA U-20
Women's World Cup crown.
Germany came into the match having defeated the U.S. 3-0 in group play earlier
in the competition, but Kealia Ohai slotted home a pass from Crystal Dunn in
the 44th minute to give the Americans the edge and put an end to Germany's
record shutout at 610 minutes.
It is the United States' third crown in the tournament's history. The
Americans were victorious in the first-ever youth World Cup Final against
Canada in 2002 and came out on top once again in the 2008 final against North
Korea.
