Wimbledon, England (Sports Network) - Novak Djokovic and Wimbledon runner-up
Andy Murray were among Sunday's first-round winners at the Olympics.
Djokovic, the No. 2 seed, rallied past Fabio Fognini of Italy 6-7 (7-9), 6-2,
6-2 in almost two hours.
This year's Australian Open champion, Djokovic won a bronze medal for Serbia
in Beijing four years ago.
The third-seeded Murray cruised past Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland 6-3,
6-3 under the retractable roof on Centre Court. Rain forced the match to be
played under the roof.
Murray, who lost to Roger Federer in the Wimbledon final three weeks ago, is
trying to become the first British tennis player to win an Olympic medal since
1996.
Fourth-seeded Spaniard David Ferrer moved on with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Vasek
Pospisil of Canada. Meanwhile, Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, the No. 5 seed,
rallied past Thomaz Bellucci of Brazil 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 6-4.
Kei Nishikori, the 15th seed, and Jarkko Nieminen also advanced on Sunday.
Nishikori defeated Australian Bernard Tomic 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-4), while
Nieminen took down Indian Somdev Devvarman 6-3, 6-1.
