landed in the quarterfinals, while former French Open champion Francesca
Schiavone came up a second-round loser Thursday at the Copa Claro Colsanitas
tennis event.
The top-seeded Jankovic blew past wild card, Colombian crowd favorite and 2010
Bogota champion Mariana Duque Marino 6-3, 6-2.
Up next for the Serbian Jankovic will be Romanian Alexandra Cadantu.
Meanwhile, Argentine Paula Ormaechea knocked out the fourth-seeded Italian
Schiavone 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) on the red clay at Centro de Alto Rendimiento
in a match that was suspended because of rain on Wednesday.
Reigning Bogota champion Lara Arruabarrena-Vecino of Spain upended fifth-
seeded Italian Flavia Pennetta 6-3, 4-6, 6-0 and the aforementioned Cadantu
overcame Croatian qualifier Tereza Mrdeza 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 on Day 4. The former
top-20 player Pennetta was the Bogota champion in 2005 and runner-up in 2006.
Arruabarrena-Vecino beat Russian Alexandra Panova in last year's Bogota
finale.
The newest champion will earn $40,000.
