It was another comeback performance for the Macon Mayhem Friday night as they punched their ticket to the President's Cup Final beating Pensacola 3-2.
In their first home playoff game of the postseason, the Mayhem got off to a slow start and trailed 2-0.
But the Mayhem fought back and were able to tie the game at 2 to end the first period. Dennis Sicard scored the Mayhem's first goal on a power play, and then with 1:25 left in the period Stephen Pierog scored on a one-timer to tie it up.
In the second period, Ben Robillard scored the last goal of the game, as the Mayhem hung on to win it.
The Mayhem will release details about the championship series in the next days.
UPDATE, 10 p.m.:
The Macon Mayhem defeated the Pensacola Ice Flyers 3-2. They are now headed to the SPHL finals.
The Macon Mayhem scored twice in the final minutes of Wednesday night's game to put themselves within striking distance of the SPHL finals.
The Mayhem are looking to punch their ticket to the championship series with a win in Game 2 Friday night which begins at 7:35 pm at the Macon Coliseum. Game 3, if necessary, is Saturday night in Macon.
Tickets are available at the Macon Centreplex Box office. Seats right on the ice against the glass are $20 and all other seats are general admission only $14.
