13WMAZ's viewers have chosen two young Jeopardy! contestants who made it all the way to the semi-final round of the Teen Tournament as the Top Story of 2013. Their story earned more than 40 percent of the vote in a text poll open for around 20 hours.

Rounding out the top five were the integrated Wilcox County dance students put together in lieu of another private "prom" that previously only included white students. That story pulled the second highest number of votes.
The rebirth of Mercer Football landed the number three slot according to viewer text votes.
Coming in at number four was the shelter break-in that left three animals dead last fall, and the following arrest of a suspect.
In the fifth slot was the government shutdown that sent home thousands of civilian workers, many of them connected to Robins Air Force Base.
