People came from all across central Georgia to partake in New Year's Eve festivities in downtown Macon.
It was the Cherry Blossom Ball Drop annual celebration featuring music, the cherry blossom ball, and thousands of family, friends, and happy citizens ready to ring in a new year.
The hopes for 2014 left a smile on many people's faces. Some people were hanging out with friends, but others decided ringing in the new year was a family affair.
Festivities started with activities for younger partiers early in the evening, and included an early fireworks show at 7 p.m. Music rocked on through the night. Immediately after the Cherry Blossom Ball dropped, a grand finally fireworks show followed to cap off the evening.
To keep revelers safe, law enforcement were on patrol. Before midnight, both the Macon Police Department and the Bibb County Sheriff's Office were represented. After midnight, a pinning ceremony united the officers under one agency.
People packed Cherry Street Plaza in Downtown Macon to send out 2013, and welcome in 2014.
