Before the weekend opening conference series between Mercer and Kennesaw State, the Baseball Bears were riding a 9 game winning streak over in state competition, well the Owls didn't get that message.

KSU won the series 2 games to 1, while the Bears struggled at the plate. During the series, the Bears went 18 innings without scoring a run.

They managed to put together just enough to muster a 2-1 win Sunday to avoid the sweep but Coach Craig Gibson feels there's no need to panic just yet.

"I think they (Kennesaw) were really good Friday and I think Saturday we had our chance but we were in a little funk. It's been a while since I had a team with 8,9 or so like that many in a slump. So I changed it around a bit and glad they responded to pick up the win on Sunday."

The Bears take Monday off, but return back to Claude Smith Field Tuesday for a two game series with Florida A&M. First pitch is at 6pm.
