Macon police are asking for the public's help in solving last week's death of Christine Patton Cook.

The 87-year-old woman was found dead early last Thursday in her home on General Lee Drive. An autopsy said she was smothered.

In a news release Monday, police said information from the public has helped them establish an apparent timeline for her death.

"We request that anyone who had contact with Mrs. Cook recently - or heard, saw, or noticed anything suspicious in the neighborhood in the hours, days or weeks prior to the murder, contact our investigators," the release says.

Anyone with information on the case can contact Macon police at 751-7500 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68-CRIME.
