ATLANTA (WXIA) -- A church volunteer was shot and killed at World Changers Church International Wednesday morning.

Investigators said the suspect, 52-year-old Floyd Palmer of Riverdale, entered a chapel on the church's campus and started shooting. Palmer is a former church employee; he resigned in August of this year, according to Fulton County spokeswoman Kay Lester.

Fulton County officials confirmed that the victim was 39-year-old Greg McDowell, a church volunteer.

Investigators say McDowell was on stage and leading a prayer when he was shot at point-blank range. Lester said multiple shots were fired, but no one else was injured.

Palmer fled the scene after the shooting and is still at large. He was wearing a suit and tie during the shooting.

Investigators said Palmer may have left the church in a black Subaru station wagon with tinted windows.

Lester said Palmer is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him is asked to call 911.

The church, which is headed up by Pastor Creflo Dollar, is located on Burdett Road near Old National Highway in south Fulton County.

Lester said Dollar was not at the church during the shooting.

The church's daycare were evacuated after the shooting. Parents were called to pick up their children.

Nearby Bethune Elementary School and McNair Middle School were temporarily on lockdown after the shooting, according to a Fulton County Schools spokesperson. The lockdown has since been lifted.
