Orlando, FL (Sports Network) - Kedren Johnson scored 17 points and swiped four steals as the Vanderbilt Commodores cruised a 73-49 rout of the Texas-El Paso Miners in the seventh place game of the Old Spice Classic at HP Field House.

Rod Odom added 16 points and seven rebounds to help the Commodores (2-3) snap their three-game losing slide. Kyle Fuller contributed 14 points and five assists.

John Bohannon paced UTEP (1-4) with 11 points on 4-of-4 shooting from the floor. Cedrick Lang netted 10 points in the Miners' fourth consecutive loss.

UTEP went in the intermission trailing 33-17 after it converted only 5-of-15 attempts from the field in the opening half. The Commodores shot 52.2 percent from the field and forced the Miners into 13 turnovers to take control before the break.

Vandy protected its lead by knocking down 5-of-11 from three-point range and 9-of-11 at the charity stripe in the second half. UTEP improved to 50 percent shooting from the floor after the intermission, but it could not get any closer than 15 points to its opponent on the scoreboard over the final 20 minutes.

The Commodores managed to attempt 10 more field goals and four more free throws than the Miners by forcing UTEP into 20 turnovers.
