Family and friends gathered to remember Linda Hunnicutt, the 65-year-old Jones County womanwho was fatally shot Tuesday at an east Macon gas station.

The funeral was held at Hart's Mortuary Chapel in Macon. Mourners filled the chapel to overflowing, those who attended told us.

Friends described Hunnicutt as a sweet, funny and kind woman who got great joy from her family.

But while friends said that Hunnicutt is in their hearts, the circumstances surrounding her death are on their minds.

"It is still kind of surreal right now, it's still kind of hard to soak in because it just happened so suddenly and you know I know the family feels that pain as well. I mean, even far worse than we could ever feel," said Donna Pilkey.

"It feels like we need to wake-up from this dream, and it will all be over you know we just need to wake-up, but you know it's not going to happen," said Patsy Hayslip.
