A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for northern portions of Central Georgia until 1 p.m. Monday.

The watch includes Baldwin, Bibb, Crawford, Hancock, Jasper, Jones, Monroe, Putnam and Upson Counties.

The National Weather Service issued the watch based on the likelihood of heavy, persistent rain tonight and over the next few days.

Heavy rain could lead to flash flooding along small streams and creeks. Low-lying terrain and manmade surfaces can also be vulnerable to rapidly rising water.

Do not attempt to cross water-covered roadways.

The counties and expiration time of the Flash Flood Watch may change based on rainfall patterns.

Central Georgia is likely to receive two to three inches of rain before the system clears out Wednesday evening.
