A state board on Tuesday delayed a decision on convicted killer Andrew Cook's clemency request.

That's according to a Tuesday evening news release from theGeorgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles, which did not specify when a decision is expected to be made.

Cook is scheduled to die by lethal injection Thurday night.

Earlier Tuesday, the state board heard from Cook's friends and family petitioning for his death sentence to be commuted.

Cook was convicted in 1998 of murdering Grant Patrick Hendrickson and Michele Lee Cartagena, two Mercer University students who were shot as they sat parked at Lake Juliette in Monroe County.

Neither the public nor the media were allowed into Tuesday's hearing.
