Bibb County realtor Mallory Jones is running for the District 4 seat on the Macon-Bibb consolidated government.
Jones, 65, has never held political office, though he did run for a county commission seat in 2012. He lost to former school board member Gary Bechtel, but he says he's still anxious to make a change.
"I decided I was either going to move or improve this community," said Jones. "And I said well, moving is just quitting, and I'm not a quitter. So I'm going to get more involved and help turn this community around. I think we have an opportunity to do that next year."
Jones has been a realtor in Bibb County for more than 20 years. He says that's given him a clear look at the issues driving families and young professionals out of Bibb county. He says his career has also helped him grow as a consensus builder.
"I bring new and fresh ideas," said Jones. "I bring common sense solutions, that's what we lack so many times."
Jones says he learned a lot in his last campaign. He plans to run a more strategically targeted and efficient campaign this time around.
