MACON, Ga. (AP) - Torrico Simmons scored 20 points and made two crucial free throws in the final 20 seconds to lead Wilkinson County to a 53-49 win Thursday over Wilcox County in the GHSA Class A boys public school championship game.

Fred Green added 11 points for the Warriors (30-2), who won their sixth state championship.

Makail Grace scored 20 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to lead the Patriots.

After Wilkinson County missed its first nine free-throw attempts, Simmons stepped to the line with 20 seconds left to give the Warriors a three-point lead. Antonio Whipple added another free throw with 9 seconds left to give his team the four-point win.

Wilcox County (23-5) struggled to find its shot the entire game, shooting 28.1 percent (18 of 64) from the floor.

Neither team led by more than six points, and the game had 15 ties or lead changes.
