When a young girl went to her neighbor's apartment to borrow something, Macon police say she was greeted by Gary Kelso, who was holding a gun.
Her father called police and when officers knocked on the 63-year-old man's door, Kelso fired a shot at them through his door, according to a news release.
Police say they identified themselves as officers when they knocked. This was just after 8 p.m. Saturday.
Kelso was ordered to drop his gun and did so without further resistance.
He was arrested him and charged him with aggravated assault and aggravated assault on a peace officer.
He remains in the Bibb County jail at this time.
