The 25th annual Dogwood Festival is coming up in Perry on April 13 and 14, and this year boasts a new, expanded festival.
Perry chamber president Stacy Campbell joined Lorra Lynch Jones in the 13WMAZ studio to talk about the newly expanded festival.
The traditional arts and crafts festival remains a staple of the celebration, but happening downtown at the New Perry Hotel is a dock dog competition. It compliments Perry becoming a national preliminary dock dog competition site. Winners at the Perry contest will go on to compete at the national competition in Las Vegas.
Saturday night, a new event will debut: a hot air balloon rally. It will be held at the Georgia National Fairgrounds with tethered balloon rides and lives music.
Tickets are $5, children under 6 get in free.
The balloon rally is the only event that has an entry fee. All other events in Perry are free.
