If you're a professional or you just like to spin a pedal every now and then you may want to get on a bike this Saturday for the 2013 Macon Cycling Classic.

This is the sixth year the Georgia Neuro Surgical Cycling team out of Macon has put on the State Criterium Championships.

A criterium is different than the guys doing a long course They will do quite a few loops around Tattnall Square park.

Several hundred racers from around the Southeast will compete.

You can race or it's absolutely free to show up and watch the action where you can literally get within inches of the athletes.

Edie Hudspeth is excited for the competition.

"We race on a time length, some of the races go 25 minutes up to an hour and so they're really face and extremely aggressive from the first lap to the last lap, he explained. There is going to be a child's race so you can bring your child out whether your child has training wheels or a big wheel."

Everything happens this Saturday, rain or shine.

Each rider must have a USA Cycling license but you can purchase them the day of the race.

You will see plenty of pro's but they will also have races for masters, kids and a women's category.

Plus if you like mountain bikes the fat tire division takes off at 4:45 pm.
