Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - The Cleveland Indians activated catcher Lou Marson from the 15-day disabled list Wednesday and inserted him into the starting lineup for the team's series finale against the Chicago White Sox.
Marson was placed on the DL on April 9 with a cervical neck strain after Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Desmond Jennings collided with him on a play at the plate during the third inning of an April 6 matchup at Tropicana Field.
The 26-year-old backstop has walked twice in his only two plate appearances this season.
To make room for Marson on the roster, Cleveland optioned catcher Yan Gomes to Triple-A Columbus. Gomes was hitting .211 with two home runs and three RBI in six games.
