For some, a birthday is the one day a year that's all about you, from the presents to the party. But how about raising thousands of dollars for your favorite charity, all before slicing your birthday cake?
Ondie Sanders has been turning her birthday into a benefit for seven years.
"When you pay for everything, all the bills get paid then we give it to Habitat," said Sanders.
Sanders said she and her guests brought $55,000 to Habitat for Humanity.
She said she got the idea from her father who died before she started turning her birthday into an opportunity to give.
"He had always taught us people are deserving," said Sanders. "Everyone deserved a roof over their head."
Everyone can join the party. A ticket cost $30 a person. It's Saturday night from 7 to 10.
