ALPHARETTA, Ga. (11Alive) -- Police said a male has been taken into custody in connection with Friday morning's bomb threat at North Point Mall.

Officials evacuated North Point Mall after police said a man called in a bomb threat Friday morning,at 9:30 a.m. They said the evacuation was out of an abundance of caution.

Alpharetta police said a thorough search of the mall was underway. An hour after the mall was evacuated, the caller called the 911 center and asked about the progress of the evacuation.

The as-yet unidentified male was being questioned by Alpharetta detectives Friday afternoon.

Officials said the mall should be cleared by about 1:45 p.m.
