Friday marked the first day of fresh Georgia peaches hitting the shelves at Lane Southern Orchard.
These peaches are a little late this year because of the weather in Central Georgia earlier this year.
"We had weather conditions that we thought might be non-conducive to growing good peaches," said Duke Lane, Jr of Lane Southern Orchard. "We have had cold weather late, we had a spring in January and a Winter in March as most people were talking about, so finally, we are glad to finally get to this point."
13WMAZ caught up with the Curry family from Houston, Texas as they came to Lane Southern Orchard. The family loves peaches and are glad they came for the first day of the fresh fruit.
"It's cool because we love to eat peaches. That's what you hear about Georgia is their peaches," said Debra Curry.
