Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired thirdbaseman Juan Francisco from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for minor leaguepitcher Thomas Keeling.

Francisco hit .241 with five homers and 16 RBI in 35 games with the Bravesthis season. He was designated for assignment on May 30.

The 25-year-old is a career .254 hitter with 19 home runs and 77 RBI in 209games with the Reds and Braves.

Keeling was 0-1 with a 3.18 ERA and one save in 17 relief appearances withDouble-A Huntsville this season. The left-hander will be assigned to Double-AMississippi.

The Brewers also asked for waivers for the purpose of the unconditionalrelease on infielder Alex Gonzalez. Additionally, the team recalled secondbaseman Scooter Gennett from Triple-A Nashville and optioned pitcher MikeFiers to Nashville.

Gonzalez hit .177 with one homer and eight RBI in 41 games this season withthe Brewers.

Gennett was batting .297 with one homer and 13 RBI in 50 games with Nashville.

Fiers was 1-4 with a 7.25 ERA in 11 appearances with Milwaukee this year.
