With the temperature heating up, a lot of Macon kids are still looking for a place to cool off.

Bibb County chairman Sam Hart says they're stepping-up their efforts to help.

Right now, three of the county's six pools are closed for repair.

Hart says they're hiring an extra work crew to prepare the pool at Unionville's Frank Johnson Rec Center.

He said they still hope to get that pool open by summer's end.

Bloomfield's pool is still scheduled to open the first week in July.

The Freedom Park pool isn't expected to open at all in 2013. It needs major repairs -- and perhaps replacement.

Meanwhile, Hart also says they're offering rides from the Bloomfield, Frank Johnson and Freedom park rec centers to the Booker T. Washington Center pool in Pleasant Hill.

That will happen Tuesdays and Fridays this summer, between noon and 4 p.m.
