Macon police are looking for a man they say tried to rob a Riverside Drive motel Monday night.

At this time, officials don't know whether this attempted motel robbery is connected to another attempted motel robbery in Bibb County, also late Monday night.

According to a news release, the man came into the lobby of the the Palm Tree Extended Stay Hotel on Riverside Drive, pulled a knife from his pocket and demanded the cash register.

The clerk ran to another room and locked her inside until police arrived.

Investigators say the robber had been a guest at the hotel before.

He is described as a black man, 6 feet, 1-inch tall and 160 pounds. He has sideburns and a goatee. The attached picture is of the suspect.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Macon Police Department at 751-7500 or Crimestoppers at 1-877-68-CRIME.
